Red White & Pure

Happened to be at Ichiban Boshi Japanese Restaurant in Esplanade Mall on weekdays at 4.30pm, surprisingly found that they have “3 – 5.30pm value set” promotion for only $5. Therefore we decided to try out how value for money it is.

There was a lot to choose from the menu, I was constantly distracted by their Nabeyaki, don set, assorted sashimi and all the sushi rolling in front of me!

I finally decided to order the value set, as it was a rare opportunity to drop by the area during weekdays really. My order was Chicken Teriyaki Shoyu Ramen (I always like Shoyu base soup) with egg, mixed vege, side with 2 pieces of gyoza….. and it was only $5!!!!!

Also found from the menu that their Niku Udon only selling $9.90 for a restaurant located in Esplanade, which I think is quite reasonable…. Better than the one I tried at Liang Court….

Munkey ordered Chasoba & Unadenki Chawanmushi Wasen, what’s inside this $17.90 set, obviously were wheat cold noodle, side with Unagi rice and chawanmushi, accompanied with a pickled lotus (appetizer) and 2 pieces of watermelon… a lot man!

I then ordered Tempura Ice cream, $4.90, a vanilla ice cream covered with deep-fried tempura and topped with strawberry sauce. Initially I though that should be something like fried ice cream, and after my trying, I didn’t feel oily for the deep-fried tempura layer and it was very tasty as well.

Rating: 7 / 10 (Point added for their value set promotion and overall consistency for their food as well)

After my shooting at The Central, we walked to Liang Court to see whether there is things to eat at this empty castle and discovered a Japanese restaurant, Kotobuki Restaurant.

We really though that it was a nice restaurant selling authentic Japanese cuisine……

We ordered Califonia Maki ($10) , it was crab sticks and avocado maki sushi wrapped with fish roe, 8 pieces, as our starter.

However we were too starved, didn’t manage to take any picture of it.

Perhaps my taste bud haven’t recovered (gotto appy medicated eye-drops 4 times a day which will leave a bitter after taste), so the maki didn’t really surprise me.

I ordered Niku Udon ($12) which was a Beef udon with Shoyu soup. The beef was a bit thickly sliced and the udon was too chewy until i can’t manage to bite it well. $12 for 5 - 6 slices of beef and 2 pieces of crab cakes, was really a bit of a let down.

Munkey ordered Miso Ramen ($12) which was a miso paste soup cooked with a little sliced vege…. tasted a scoop just didn’t like the miso taste, funny taste.

My half bowl of Niku Udon ended up with this fatty bom bom who always like to eat half of my meal….. lucky that i didnt need to pay, :p

Afterall, we still think our favourite J&K restaurant at Shaw Tower is better and cheaper.
